STUDIO

Taka Studio is an investigative design house based between Los Angeles and Peru.

The studio exists to connect traditional craft with contemporary practice. Our work considers environment, material origin, and the people behind each garment, elevating individually made artifacts that retain the idiosyncrasies of the handmade.

Our collections are developed around locally sourced fibers that are oriundo to Peru. We work with historic Latin mills, using alpaca, wool, pima, and tangüis cotton. We prioritize undyed fibers, organic and native cottons, and botanical and mineral dyes where possible. Material decisions are guided by minimizing processing and eliminating the unecessary.

We develop new processes inside traditional craft systems, testing dye methods and construction while preserving textile knowledge. Many garments are completed start to finish by a single maker or small workshop, prioritizing the hand of the artisan over industrial uniformity.
